IAVS Campaigns
The Irish Anti-Vivisection Society campaigns peacefully to abolish all animal experiments in Ireland
We do this by continually requesting information from the Health Products Regulatory Authority (HPRA) and informing the public about animal experiments. As public money is involved in funding some animal experimentation work, we believe this entitles the public to know what is going on behind closed doors of Irish laboratories. Along with the European Coalition to End Animal Experiments (ECEAE) we challenge decision-makers and lobby Government officials to make a positive difference for animals. We also fund non-animal research grants and promote a cruelty free lifestyle.
Despite growing public concern and increasing developments in non-animal research technologies, animals continue to be used in cruel and unreliable tests all over the world. In Ireland alone, over 121,000 animals were used in experiments in Irish laboratories in 2021.
