IAVS Donates €5000 to 'Replacing Animal Research' for World Day for Laboratory Animals 2025

In recognition of World Day for Laboratory Animals 2025, The Irish Anti-Vivisection Society (IAVS) is proud to announce a donation of €5000 to the organisation Replacing Animal Research. This contribution marks our continued commitment to secure the total abolition of all experiments causing suffering or distress to animals.

Replacing Animal Research is dedicated to promoting and funding scientific methods that replace the use of animals in research and safety testing. Their work is vital in creating a future where research based on human biology delivers more accurate and reliable results, eliminating the need for animal testing.

Through their funding initiatives, Replacing Animal Research supports critical areas of development, including:

  • The FRAME Laboratory: Based at the University of Nottingham, the FRAME Lab has, for over 30 years, pioneered the creation and testing of non-animal research methods. As the UK’s oldest dedicated laboratory for alternatives research, it has been instrumental in modelling human diseases and exploring new toxicity testing approaches. It also plays a key role in training the next generation of scientists in human-based research techniques.
  • Summer Studentship Awards: Enabling students to gain hands-on experience in non-animal research projects, nurturing new talent committed to humane science.
  • Innovation Grant Scheme: Supporting bold, creative projects that have the potential to replace animal use in research and testing.
  • Knowledge Transfer Partnerships: Encouraging collaboration between academia and industry to spread knowledge of non-animal methods and accelerate their adoption.

Replacing Animal Research ensures that each donation directly contributes to scientific progress and educational efforts that replace animal use in research, while fostering the skills, knowledge, and communication needed to drive permanent, systemic change.

At the IAVS, we are honoured to support an organisation whose mission so closely aligns with our vision for a compassionate and scientifically advanced future. Together, we can help create a world where research thrives without reliance on animal experimentation.

We thank all our members for being part of this journey and invite you to learn more about the incredible work being done by Replacing Animal Research here.
